One month there are no updates, next there are like 4. Seems like I can’t write regularly, doesn’t it? I thought you guys might want to get some more information about what has been going on lately.
My job.
A while ago I was called by HuiJia schools in Beijing. I talked to them at the job fair I went to in Beijing and left my cover letter and resume. It turned out that they like me and my resume, because shortly after the fair I received two e-mails saying that they would like to schedule an interview with me.
I had an interview for what would’ve been a great position, but unfortunately, that fell through. I’m still going to work for the school though, but as a kindergarten teacher. I would never have thought that I was ever gonna say this, but I’m happy to teach those little ones again! Teaching children is what I like best. University students are just very different.
Anyways, I started to get a little nervous cause I didn’t hear anything from the school for about a week after I e-mailed them my address in Beijing. I called today and now I’m confident everything will be fine on that side.
Visa.
The stressy part is the visa stuff. As you probably know, it’s not easy to get a visa or residence permit for China. It’s to complicated to explain it all, but basically Miguel isn’t able to get a new residence permit. The company he will be working for can only provide him with a student visa. Something he doesn’t want, cause he would be working illegally. We have to figure out what the best way to go is to solve this problem. He already opted that he could be my dependent.
For me, the stressy part is the answer to the question whether I will have enough time to renew my permit. I am 95% sure I will get a new permit, I just hope I will have enough time.
The plan was to move on the 31rst, so I would have 10 days to do the health check and all the paper work. Tuesday morning I was told I might not be able to leave on the 31rst anymore, but that I possibly have to stay until the 4th. That would leave me 4 days to get everything set up. Doable, but a bit tricky, time wise.
Relax.
So with all these things going on, not being with Miguel (so no/less support), the holidays, and the freezing cold (-23°C at night) I’ve been feeling out of it a little bit lately. I would love for us to get away to a nice beach, just relax and not worry about anything but the question if my next shake is going to be a lemon or strawberry shake.
This is, in short, the situation right now. If you want the longer version, you can always e-mail me!
